The New Antioxidant:
White Tea (Camellia sinesis)
Green Tea has long been the darling of the beauty world, but new
research shows that white teas is even better for your skin. Both
teas are plucked from the same plant, Camillia sinensis, but
while the mature leaves used in green tea undergo a heating process that
can kill antioxidants, white tea is culled from young unopened buds and
is air-dried. With more free-radical fighters intact, white tea is
better able to protect your skin against the damaging effects of sun
exposure, aging, and even skin cancer. Here's how to make this
skin-saver work for you.
Drink it.
Recent research demonstrates that white tea eclipses green tea in
destroying germs that cause pneumonia, strep throat, and cavities.
Bathe in it.
Make a pot of white tea, let it steep, pour it into your tub, and
soak in the skin-soothing benefits.
Beautify with it.
